Them Die “Bastard Son”
Thrash is in again! Watch Them Die’s new release, “Bastard
Son” (Century Media) has no mercy on any soul, as the opening
title track, “Bastard Son” reaches out and grabs you by
the throat. “Onslaught” will embark your body into a non
stop mind twister and the band continues to deliver non stop riffs and
beats from beyond reality. No wonder Exodus selected this band for their
2005 Fall US Tour.
Upon arriving “Horizon” you will be grasping for air. Pat
Virgil (vocals) Jase (guitar) Pat (bass), Ira (drums) and chief song-writer,
Greg Valencia (guitar / vocals) truly created a monster to be unleashed.
Mixed by Tue Madsen’s touch of evil, “Bastard Son”
is fast, loud and filled with lyrics that are delivered with great intensity.
The missing links are the guitar solos and the cd art work. There are
some great opportunities to fuel the fire with some massive lead work,
which would be a great window to showcase this grinding guitar duo,
yet it goes on with minimum stretch. In addition, the cd cover could’ve
been developed with a better, stronger, image in my opinion. This is
the bands 2nd release and the music speaks for it self, but this is
the opportunity to distinguish their band identity.
Above all, Watch Them Die’s “Bastard Son” is highly
recommended to all true metal maniacs around the world. No doubt these
guys will be among the greatest, heaviest, and brutal pioneers of the
new millennium. Venom and Slayer should be glad to share their reign!
